HANDLING

The Wildcat uses Land Rover Discovery S11 beam axles on the front and rear.
The FRONT AXLE is a one piece welded assembly, including the swivel pin housing. This provides a more car like geometry, which, in turn, improves steering feel and precision. The axle is attached to the chassis by forged steel radius arms that prevents fore and aft movement on the axle while allowing the maximum articulation necessary for off-road performance. Transverse location of the axle is by panhard rod. This ensures that when lateral forces are applied e.g. in cornering, the axle remains centrally located.

The REAR AXLE location is achieved by T45 trailing arms, like the front radius arms these trailing arms prevent fore and aft movement of the axle while permitting vertical movement. Lateral movement on the rear axle is prevented by a T45 Watts Linkage. The bars which have been custom built to allow greater travel extend from the right and left hand sides of the chassis and meet at a pivot bracket on the top of the axle casing. This allows vertical movement without bump steer, while axle articulation takes place around the pivot bracket and improves lateral location of the axle whilst reducing roll center height.

The BRAKING SYSTEM is servo assisted uses disc brakes on all four wheels,
a feature which is shared by few off road vehicles. The front discs are ventilated
to assist cooling. Disc brakes are less prone to overheating than drum type and
They also dry out more quickly after wading.
A brake bias valve can also be fitted to suit the drivers braking preference.
